What is the KC Health Standard?
The Kennel Club's Health Standard provides guidance about relevant health tests for each breed, two categories or levels of testing are defined, good and best practice. The Health Standard will be reviewed by the RKC and updated depending on breed specific data.
Whether you’re looking for a puppy or breeding a litter, understand the health issues and how they can be managed or avoided.

Evidence indicates these conditions are a significant concern in the breed.

Prioritising genetic diversity

DNA test for primary lens luxation (PLL) - Dogs affected with PLL have painful glaucoma and blindness due to a dislocation of the lens due to a breakdown or disintegration of the zonula fibres. PLL can be inherited or acquired.
Best Practice schemes and tests
These conditions that are still significant for the breed, they might be less common.
